Art in Timber

Wood turning and carving is so much more the traditional spindles and  floral carvings to Simon. Instead, he has found beauty in the wood through refined form and texture. He specialising in bowls, carved embellishment and German ring turning. A lot of Simon's creative style has come from nature and then trial and error, trying to push his skill set to a new level as well as create unique works with a flare of his own.

Despite Simon's age, he is an experienced turner who has been turning since 2010 and has made wood turning and carving his full time career since 2016. As a full time wood turner, Simon sells his works through galleries across NSW, takes on unique commission work, teaches classes and individuals and sells at local artisan markets.

Simon's works are made in Australia from predominantly Australian salvaged timbers

Due to such a high turn over of work, Simon does not have an automated sales system for now. His facebook and Instagram will have the most recent works if you want to see what he has been making there. If there is a piece that has your interest, send a message requesting the details and he will get back to you as soon as possible. If a piece has already sold, Simon will find a similar piece of timber or customise it to your desire.
Other places to buy his work include a range of timber galleries across NSW and the artisan markets around Sydney

Simon has a wealth of knowledge that he is willing to share. From one on one tutoring in his workshop in Asquith, classes at Timberbits in Mona Vale, demonstrating at symposiums and zoom demonstrations to people all over the world. If you would like to learn how to turn a beautiful bowl, learn the art of German ring turning or anything in between, please send through an enquiry.
